Aja, a recently opened sushi bar and cocktail lounge in the West Village, mixes a little bit of the new with a little bit of the old. The old means that they serve up traditional pan-Asian dishes, while the new implies that they serve them with a whole new flair. Priced to fit anyone’s budgets, Aja will allow anyone to experience the unusual.
Try the Thai grilled chicken breast, pan-fried duck breast served with grilled asparagus, eggplant, zucchini, and thai plum sauce, the tropical mango chicken or even one of the fantastic sushi rolls. Any choice is bound to please.
Thai Grilled Chicken Breast—White meat chicken marinated and char-grilled served over wok-tossed long beans, okra, eggplant, red and green peppers; garnished with crushed peanuts and pan-roasted garlic
Pan-Fried Duck Breast—Served with grilled asparagus, eggplant, zucchini and Thai plum sauce
Bolo Chicken—Sautéed with twelve vegetable ingredients sauce, diced pineapple, diced red and green peppers; served in pineapple shell

I ordered the sushi, dumplings, riblets, lettuce delight and edamame. The rib was decent, lettuce delight was good (although would be better without the pineapple!) and dumplings were OK too. So I guess all the cooked items were OK. The edamame was inedible, some pods were bitter in taste when you bit into them and it didn't look green and fresh. The sushi had a thick, fishy smell which just turned me off right away and I'm grimacing while I think about the taste - it was awful. I couldn't swallow what I was eating, so I ended up throwing all the sushi in the rubbish. In a nutshell - the cooked stuff from this place was OK, but I'd steer clear of the raw fish and edamame.

Wish there were a 4 1/2 option. You're never going to get truly great sushi in a delivery order, but these guys clearly care about what they're doing; everything is fresh and tasty, and while they're not lightning fast, they're reliable, and they have a broad delivery radius. Highly recommended if you don't feel like walking out to your local on a rainy night.

I don't know why this place doesn't get better reviews on the food. I'm crazy about the starter. The rolls, well, this is a great restaurant. A bit PRICEY though.

Sweet and sour soup and one of the rolls I ordered was good. The other salmon tasted not so fresh so I threw it out

This place has the WORST sushi I have ever tasted in NYC. Both the Yellowtail and the Tuna were so disgusting that I had to SPIT THEM OUT. When I tried to contact the restaurant about the unacceptable quality of the sushi, they were BEYOND RUDE and completely disregarded the fact that they had sent us rancid fish. AWFUL SERVICE and even more AWFUL FOOD.

Why I will NEVER eat here again The worst service and that by the MANAGER! The have an $8 lunch yet have a $10 minimum! I called my bank and to have a minimum is against their credit card agreement, but he didn't care. He told me "you have a choice to not eat here." So I won't and I hope you won't either.

This is the best delivery place you can get around the financial district. Good food - never disappoints with most the dishes on the menu. reasonable prices too.
